Warehouse Ecosystem
The warehouse ecosystem is responsible for the issuance of eWR (negotiable and non-negotiable) on the NeRL platform and for ensuring the quality of the underlying commodity are maintained.
A warehouseman is any individual who is registered with WDRA having the requisite infrastructure, manpower, skills, knowledge, experience and expertise to perform warehousing services and related activities as per –WDRA guidelines. Warehousemen are required to have their own independent staff with requisite skills and knowledge.
Roles and Responsibility of Warehouseman
As per WDR Act, a warehouseman is responsible for:
- Depositor KYD (know Your Depositor)
- Responsibility of quality and quantity check
- Issuance of electronic Warehouse Receipt (eWR)
- Delivery to holder of commodity
Warehouseman Do’s and Don’ts
Do’s
- Educate the client on the account opening and other transactional processes on the NeRL system
- Immediate recording of stock in NeRL system on the day of physical deposit itself
- Fortnightly stock reconciliation in the NeRL system
- Stock can be revalidated 25 days prior
- Timely renewal of Lease agreement and insurance of the warehouse
- Timely submission of security deposit as per WDRA norms
- Quality Assaying is mandatory for the issue of eNWR as prescribed by WDRA
- Attend warehouseman training programmes organized by NeRL periodically to stay updated
- Generate eNWR / eNNWR instead of physical acknowledgement receipts
Don’ts
- Sharing NeRL login passwords with anyone not authorized to access the system
- Delivery of physical stock without withdrawal in NeRL system
- Physical lifting of stock without withdrawal authorization code
- Sharing client information, stock data or NeRL data with third parties
- Generation of physical warehouse receipts in WDRA registered warehouses
- Warehouseman is prohibited from storing his own goods in his own warehouse.
